Did You Know?

The Amazing Shea Tree

It takes up to 15–20 years for a shea tree to begin producing fruit, yet it can live and bear nuts for over 200 years.
Shea trees grow wild and are never planted or cultivated — every tree is a gift of nature, thriving in the parklands of the Sahel.
Ghana is one of the world's leading producers of shea nuts, with the vast majority collected by rural women.
Shea butter is rich in vitamins A and E, and has been used for centuries as food, medicine and skincare across West Africa.
At SSVF, the journey "from tree to butter" supports livelihoods, food security and climate resilience — one village at a time.
